Bart and Lisa always fight then awake. And Bart's sad, because he can only be nice and gentle to her then she's asleep.
The dirty hands and the shadow are just some kind of metaphors for him being the "bad" one, while she's clean and pure. So she's kinda "glowing". Hope you can understand what I'm trying to say
